2009
All of my life I've been involved in the dog world, from training, grooming, showing, breeding, rescue,
and even working in a kennel cleaning and caring for other peoples dogs. I'm now employed as a full time groomer and
have worked for the same business since 1991. For over twenty years I've not been without at least one dog in my
household, usually more around five.
God bless my parents for putting up with me and my dogs for all these years! And now my
husband who has put up with it for the past fourteen years! My kids, my daughter who is turning twenty two and
is in college and works with me and is also dog crazy, and my thirteen year old son who helps me care for them all and loves
them as much as I do!
I started out with Shih Tzu and Akita's many years ago, and have since owned Rottweilers, Boston Terriers,
Australian Shepherds, Boxers, Goldens, and many mixed breed dogs as well.
We've had quite a few set backs over the years, from the "perfect show/breeding dog" having testicle
problems, temperment problems, emergency c-sections, mastitis, hip dysplasia, bad experiences with unethical
breeders, ect. I've spent many sleepless nights trying to save a puppy that wasn't thriving. And bottle fed entire litters
for weeks at a time. There is a lot of heartbreak in breeding dogs. But there's a lot of joy also, watching new owners faces
light up when they hold their puppy for the first time, seeing puppies tumbling around with each other when they first
learn to play, puppy breath, puppy kisses, watching a puppy you bred in the show ring for the first time, and
we've made some good friends along the way also.
Over the years we've had our share or misfortune like everyone else. Most recently our home
burning down earlier this year, during which we lost our two cats and every one of our possesions but the clothes on our backs. By
the grace of God we were able to get ourselves and the dogs out of the house in time. But starting over from scratch
is not an easy thing to do. We had to make the hard decision to place most of our dogs. Thankfully we were fortunate
to find wonderful homes for them and all of the new owners have kept in touch with us with pictures and updates and that has
helped us so much to get through this. Thank God for our family, relatives, and friends who were there for us and luckily
we had insurance to cover some of what we lost. Some things can never be replaced. You never really know how lucky you have
been until you lose everything.
But you get through the tough times and keep going, and we've recently purchased a new home
and are finally settled in and have just purchased an Australian Shepherd puppy with the hopes of getting him into
the show ring later this year. We're also considering adding a nice female aussie to our home and there may even be puppies
in the future for us again.
Keep checking back with us for updates!
